It’s time to celebrate!
After years and years of effort to get to this point, the District has finally completed 1) all of the engineering, design work, and construction plans which define the needed repairs for the Dam, and 2) secured all of the funding necessary to complete construction of the needed Dam repairs (including verifying that all of the federal funding has been “appropriated” by congress and “obligated” by USDA-NRCS for repair of the Magma Dam).
As are result, on April 1st, 2011 the District has awarded the construction contract (and issued a notice to proceed) to the low bidder — FNF Construction, Inc. The Contract calls for construction to be completed by June 24, 2012 (a little more than 1 year from now). Over the next 30-60 days the contractor and engineers will be finalizing the construction schedule and coordinating the details that must occur before FNF can mobilize and start construction. The District looks forward to succesfully completing the Dam Rehabilitation and ultimately being able to provide the level of flood protection desired by those living down stream of the Dam. If you have questions, please feel free to contract the District’s General Manager.
