This communication serves as an invitation for you to attend a Public Meeting to learn about the Lower Magma Channel Rehabilitation Project in Pinal County, Arizona. The Magma Flood Control District, with assistance from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), is currently beginning the planning phase for the proposed project. The purpose of the proposed project is to provide adequate conveyance of sediment and flood flows, and to reduce the risk of flood damages to nearby properties.
The project proposes to develop a set of rehabilitation measures needed for safe performance of the Lower Magma Channel to convey principal outlet flows from the Magma Flood Retarding Structure and offsite flood flows and sediment inflow from north of Hunt Highway to the Gila River. The project limits are approximately 3 miles from 1,000 feet north of Hunt Highway to 100 feet south of Lower Magma Channel’s southern terminus (please see the attached Figure 1). No work will occur within the Gila River.
Please attend to provide comments, suggestions, recommendations, and/or information pertaining to this proposed project. Please meet with us on Tuesday, 10/1/2013 at 6:00pm at the FUSD Anthem K-8 School–Band Room, located at 2700 N. Anthem Way, Florence, AZ, 85132.
