Does the Dam hold water??

Before the flood

During the flood

The July 2008 flash flood resulted in an enormous amount of water. The above left picture is of the “trash grate” at the deepest part of the Dam’s impound area. The grate is 22 feet tall and keeps debris from clogging the outlet pipe that feeds water from the Dam into the Magma channel. As the above right picture shows, after the 2008 flood, the trash grate was barely visible. The Magma FRS may be a Dam in the desert, but in a matter of a few hours it can be the only thing standing between a flash flood and the safety of both thousands of people and millions of dollars of improved property.
