The Magma Flood Control District (MFCD) in cooperation with the Florence-Coolidge Natural Resource Conservation District, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), has completed the DRAFT Supplemental Watershed Plan/Environmental Assessment (Plan/Environmental Assessment) for the Magma Flood Retarding Structure (FRS). The Recommended Plan calls for providing continued flood protection for lands within the MFCD by rehabilitating the existing Magma FRS to address safety deficiencies and to meet current dam safety standards.
A public open house will be held at Anthem K-8 School (FUSD) — Band Room, 2700 N. Anthem Way, Florence, AZ, 85232, on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. The purpose of the open house is to obtain public input on the Recommended Plan as well as to answer questions regarding the rehabilitation planning effort. Individuals and groups are invited to review the DRAFT Plan/Environmental Assessment and to prepare and submit written or oral comments concerning the project.
